Merry Christmas & Happy New Year From Core Client Attraction!!

Just wanted to wish all my members and followers of Core Client Attraction and myfitnessmarketing.com a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Chances are you or your staff may have a little extra time over the next 2 weeks, so I've decided to list a few things you may want to consider doing to make the end of the year productive and set yourself up for an explosive first quarter 2010!!

1. Remove clutter from your office, either at home or at the gym. Throw stuff away, donate, or give it away. Make some space for new work and achievements!!

2. Review all of your goals for 2009 and look at the ones your achieved and congratulate yourself!!

3. Make a list of goals not yet achieved and set a goal for getting them done by the end of the first quarter of 2010.

4. Make a list of new goals for each quarter of 2010!

5. Call every client that referred someone into your business and wish them a happy new year without pitching them anything.

6. Send all clients a holiday card with a handwritten message on the card, thanking them for their continued use of your training services.

7. Take one of your clients or one of your business referral sources out to lunch.

8. Take another SUCCESSFUL trainer or gym owner in your area out to lunch and exchange ideas.

9. Make a list of things that need improved in your gym, or training studio and list 3 ways to improve each.

10. Take the ONE THING that makes your mad, angry, or frustrated and do and/or spend whatever it takes to fix or eliminate it.

11. Make a list of things that can be delegated to assistants, or other trainers, and make a goal to delegate all activities that do not directly make your money, like filing paperwork, sending mail-outs or phone calls.

12. Make a list of the activities that you currently do that produce your highest income; training clients, creating marketing pieces, or creating online content, and make a decision to do only these activities and delegate the rest.

Remember, these are just a few ideas to help set your fitness business up for a successful 2010, enjoy the holidays and get ready for the new year!!

Back In The Saddle Again!!

Okay Core Client Attraction members and followers of myfitnessmarketing.com, I'm back from my honeymoon in the caribbean and ready to supercharge your fitness marketing for 2010!!

The month of December is the probably THE most important month for setting the tone for the coming year. If you've not set up your marketing and promotional calendar for the first quarter of 2010, now is the time to plan out the next 3 to 6 months of promotions. To give you a little help, here's some promotional ideas for December, January and Febuary.

1. Mail A Holiday Card To EVERY client, one-on-one or bootcamp, and make sure to include a family or friend gift certificate. Make sure to write a special and unique message inside the card, something that will encourage your client.

2. Create an 8 weight-loss challenge or 8 week bootcamp to start the 1st week of the new year. Promote with flyers and mailed campaign to all current or former clients with a 20-30% off discounted offer with a registration deadline on December 31st.

3. Start mailing all current clients, former clients, and strategic business alliances a monthly fitness newsletter.

4. The First week of the new year, call all inactive clients (6 months or longer) and ask if they would like a FREE Week of Bootcamp or 2 FREE One-On-One Sessions to get them started on their fitness goals again.

5. Stop by all of your business referral networks and drop off a small holiday gift and card. Show your appreciation for businesses that refer your clients. This may be hair salons, tanning salons, spas or doctor's offices.

6. All of your clients that referred in a family member or friend over the last year, now is the time to show your appreciation. Send a special letter or card with a small gift certificate to say thank you.

Now is the time, especially in this current economy to show appreciation and say, "Thank You", to all of your clients. Now more than ever, they need to know you appreciate them.

Best wishes for the holiday and new year,

Dr. James Roman

What You MUST Know About GOOGLE LOCAL BUSINESS SEARCHES!!

Here's a quick tip for you to MAXIMIZE your online marketing.

If you're not listed with Google Local Business Search or Yahoo Local Business Search, you need to register yourself and your business address and website with them.

The local business searches are the maps and names of businesses when you type in:

"Personal Trainer, Your Town, Your State"

Trust me, you want to be listed with these local searches. It's ONE of the keys to getting new clients from the web.

It takes a few minutes to set it up and then they will mail you a postcard to verify your address.

The cool thing is you can have SEVERAL LISTINGS;
Your Business Name,
Your Name,
And Your Name In Reverse Order.

Next you'll have to verify it with the postcard they send you and then you'll all set.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE.....

Go Against The Grain, BE VERY DIFFERENT FROM YOUR COMPETITION!!

Shrouding yourself within the cloak of normality will destine you to failure!!
In business, when you hang out with the average folk, and do what everyone else does, and market and promote your business just like everyone does, and treat your clients that same as everyone else does, guess what you end up with......

The SAME THING EVERYONE ELSE HAS.... Mediocrity!!

I know, it sounds a little harsh, but you've got to be different in your marketing and promotions!

You've got to think differently in your fitness business to stand out and above the REST in your area and field of expertise.

Look everyone in the fitness business advertises a FREE TRAINING SESSION to try and pull in new clients.....

"IT'S A PLAIN VANILLA OFFER"

It doesn't separate your business from the guy down the street. And what it does is it puts you in the same category as every other personal trainer in your area. You become a commodity, like gas or milk, something your clients can get anywhere, and for a cheaper price somewhere else.

Strive to be different.... Strive to be 180 degrees in the opposite direction from you competition.

Offer a Discounted Week of Training for 19$, or a Two Weeks For 19$. Change your initial offer to sound so completely different and enticing to new clients that they MUST choose you because you so radically different from everyone else.

Create a better sounding USP, or Unique Selling Proposition.

Two Weeks Of Belly Flattening, Thigh Thinning Killer Bootcamp Designed To Make You The Envy of Your Co-Workers, The Talk Of The Neighborhood, And The Flame In Your Lover's Eye For $19.00.

Now that's something I want to be apart of, and it's completely different from; I've got this FREE Training Session For YOU. Can you see how plain that sounds?

Come up with the pricing that works for your business or bootcamp, but be willing to be different and sound different with not only your training but your promotions and marketing.

Until next time,

What You Get With A GOOD REWARD PROGRAM!!

What I love about running a business is that it's the same no matter what industry you're in. No matter if you're running a local restaurant, hair salon or chiropractic office, it's all the same. I always hear from Fitness Professionals or other Chiropractors who are struggling, that "their businesses are different." That you just don't understand how my business works, "it's different."

And after working with clients in the fitness industry and chiropractic profession, and consulting with other business professionals in all industries, I've learned one big thing about business.

IT'S ALL THE SAME!!

We're all still working with clients or customers and providing either an impeccable service or an amazing product for people. It's the same no matter what type of business you run.

We all have to marketing our product and service, (tell others) then sell that product or service, (sell others), and then we must manage the service, manage our staff, and manage our clients, (manage others).

Recently, I was a popular restaurant here in Atlanta, and the cool thing about it is this restaurant is owned by a local company that owns SEVERAL different restaurants in Altanta. Actually, they own 7. And the amazing part about it, is that they're getting ready to open another restaurant.

At a time when other businesses are failing miserably, and closing their doors, this company is thriving and expanding. SO YOU MAY WANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!
So here's the key to what they are doing and how to make it work for you.

1. They're targeting the more AFFLUENT CUSTOMERS.

This company targets the more affluent clientele that are least affected by the economy, or if they are, they're the LAST one's affected. This ain't no Walmart Crowd. They not trying to be the cheapest option for their customers, however, this doesn't mean they are not aware of what's going on in the world. They focus on IMPECCABLE Customer Service. And then offer their customers options.

2. Giving Clients Options.

Yes, they have more expensive, 30$ per menu options, then they have a 3 course special menu items. A full dinner with 3 courses for 30$. They offer, even the more affluent crowd options when eating in their restaurant.

3. Rewarding Their Favorite Customers.

They started a reward program, where if you eat at a different restaurant, each month over the summer and fall seasons, you get 30$ off each meal. A 30$ coupon good for a new restaurant every month. This ONE concept does 3 POWERFUL THINGS TO PROMOTE THEIR BUSINESS. One, it gets you out, spending money in their restaurant, every month. Two, it gets you to a NEW restaurant every month. So that you try out each of their restaurants, rather than just stick to one or two restaurant. Three, it rewards you for being a great customer, and builds a stronger bond to their product and brand name.

A reward program, combined with amazing customer service and targeting AFFLUENT customers is a foundation for any fitness business to thrive in today's economy and should be the focus of how you operate and promote your fitness business.

You will not win with a strategy built around becoming the WALMART OF THE FITNESS INDUSTRY!!

Until next time,

The BIGGEST CHALLENGE For Personal Trainers.... And it's SOLUTION!!

I hear this from trainers across the country, and it's the biggest source of business frustration for most fitness business owners and professionals.

-It's got nothing to do with how to run their business or train clients.
-It's got nothing to do with how to start an LLC for their company, or how to get liability coverage.
-It's got nothing to do with what certifications they have or what certifications they plan on getting for themselves.
-It's got nothing to do with do with what forms clients need to fill out or waivers they need to sign.
-It's NOTHING to do with ANY OF THAT!

THE Biggest Challenge For ALL Fitness Professionals is.....

GETTING MORE NEW CLIENTS!!

That's it. That's the one big challenge for all fitness professionals. And it's not just fitness professionals that have this problem it's the majority of small businesses.

So for any small business owner, PT's included, to not concentrate or spend the majority of their thought process on this ONE aspect of their business is absolutely crazy.

Listen, most personal trainers make under 50K a year, and I would venture to say that if some reading this blog even made close to that a year, they'd feel like they ARRIVED in the industry.

To separate yourself from the 90% you've got to do things radically different from the rest...

You've actually got to spend time on learning how to MARKET your business, SELL your services, and KEEP the clients you have, happy and content in your business.

That takes training and time.

It takes an investment on your part to actually learn what strategies will bring you new clients. And it's more than just depending on the few trickles of referrals you get every month.

If you really think you can sustain yourself on the 3 or 4 new clients that get referred into your business every month, then you need to look no further than your empty bank account.

You just can't do it by word of mouth alone, you must implement marketing strategies designed to bring you more new clients every week on a consistant basis.

And you must take action on delivering it.

90% of ALL problems you ever encounter in your business will be marketing problems and they are always solved by getting more new clients.

Leadership & Why It's So Important To Be A LEADER!!

Leaders lead.

That's what they do. I have found that once you establish leader-like qualities, then you can become a trusted advisor to your clients.... then they will listen to you, probably get better results, and definitely refer more clients to you. (If you do good work of course!)

But they first must believe the messenger.

Take our president for example (please ignore for a second whatever you may feel about politics), he has leadership qualities that are so strong, he became president without much political experience. Really think about HOW LONG he's been in politics, less than 7 years.

Americans bought in to the packaging. The way he made them feel, his branding, his message. Obama and his team know how to market!!

This doesn't necessarily make a good president, but it definitely helps people get elected.

So what do you think your clients pay attention to?

Here's what I think are leadership qualities that every personal trainer or fitness business owner should adopt:

**Not be afraid of opposing views and can handle objections
**Be a good listener
**An understanding of what people want
**Manage other peoples expectations
**Delegate work to others
**Communicates often to his or her list of clients and to staff
**Looks & Acts the part of a leader
**Never lets anyone see them sweat
**Doesn't get defensive
**Let's others know their purpose.... OFTEN!
**Get's others to become apart of their vision
**Goal oriented, believes in his/her abilities
**Exudes confidence
**Let's go of fear

Lastly, leaders are winners. They stand out in a crowd. They truly want to win.

If you're not winning in your business, constantly growing your fitness business and not just surviving, but thriving in today's economy, you need coaching. Online, gold coaching membership starts as low as $37.00 a month. Click on this link to sign up for membership today!!
